network
Twenty Book Titles Generate Donations During “Kids Month” To
Help 14 Million Kids Treated In 170 Children’s Hospitals Throughout North
America
SALT LAKE
CITY, UT (March 8, 2001)—Children’s Miracle Network announced today that
Borders Books and Music, one of the nation’s leading retail destinations for
book and music lovers, will celebrate “Borders’ Explorers Month” this March
with online boutiques, promotions and in-store events. For the second year, Borders.com will donate $1 for each online
sale of designated children’s books to Children’s Miracle Network-affiliated
hospitals as part of its Borders Giveback program. Twenty children’s books will
be featured in a special boutique on www.borders.com.
Borders.com
will promote this opportunity through its home page, children’s page,
electronic newsletter, e-mail communications, electronic banners on Borders’
“Friends and Affiliates” web sites, and through Inside Borders, a monthly
publication.
“Building
on last year’s successful promotion, we’re excited to have Borders raising
funds for a second year,” said Val Durrant, vice president Corporate
Development for Children’s Miracle Network. “Borders stores are very well known
and respected for connecting their customers with important causes; now its
online service, Borders.com, is extending this tradition to its e-commerce
customers. We’re honored Borders would continue to help our 14 million kids.”
The
original decision to partner with Children’s Miracle Network was consistent
with Borders’ corporate philosophy of striving to become an important, relevant
part of the communities in which it operates.
“These hospitals are among the most cherished institutions in their
communities because of what they do to save children’s lives and help them
heal. It’s a perfect fit with Borders.com, and we’re happy to be able to make a
