McKnight and Sawyer Brown Perform at Children's Miracle Network Concert for
Kids ORLANDO (April 6, 2001) &emdash; Grammy nominated R&B artist Brian
McKnight and award-winning country group Sawyer Brown will perform live at
Walt Disney World in Children's Miracle Network's Concert for Kids presented
by Marriott. The concert is being produced for television and will air the
weekend of June 2 and 3 as part of the annual "Children's Miracle
Network Celebration" on syndicated stations throughout North America. Among those attending the concert are 50 children&emdash;one from
every state&emdash;who have been treated at one of the 170 children's
hospitals affiliated with Children's Miracle Network. Each of these children
has overcome a personal battle with a disease, injury or birth defect and has
been selected to serve as an ambassador for the 14 million children treated
each year at Children's Miracle Network hospitals. McKnight has been voted top Songwriter of the Year by Billboard magazine
and his latest CD, Back at One, has reach multi-platinum status. Sawyer Brown
has won six consecutive TNN/Music City News Top Vocal Band awards and has
also been recognized with the Country Music Association's Horizon Award. "I perform hundreds of shows every year," said McKnight.
"But doing this one for kids in children's hospitals across the country
was really something special. I hope that, through my music, I can be of some
influence to help better their lives in some small way." Sawyer Brown front man, Mark Miller, who traveled to Orlando for the
concert from Augusta, Ga. where he's been enjoying the Masters golf
tournament, said he was fine with missing the remaining rounds at the
tournament. "It's all about priorities. When you have a chance to help
children in need, you take that chance every time," said Miller.
"We're just thrilled to share the stage with Brian [McKnight] and see
what we can do to help." The concert, closed to the public, will be from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. in the
Coronado Ballroom at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. About Children's Miracle Network Children's Miracle Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to
