Tracy Byrd Reels In Big Bucks For Children's Miracle Network

(4/9/01, 6 p.m. ET) -- Tracy Byrd's Homecoming Weekend in Beaumont, Texas last weekend was a major success for the Children's Miracle Network. The event, which featured a live concert, bass fishing, and golf tournament, raised more than $130,000 for Byrd's charity of choice. Byrd and his friends, Mark Chesnutt, Brad Paisley, Sammy Kershaw, and comedian Bill Engvall got things started Friday (April 6) night with a sold-out concert at the Beaumont Civic Center.

Heavy rains and flooding gave way to sunny weather for the Big Bass Tournament on Saturday (April 7). The first-place winner reeled in an 8.5 pound large-mouth bass, for which he was rewarded with a 2001 Ranger bass boat valued at $36,000. In addition to the fishing tournament, a total of 212 participants played in the annual golf tournament.

A press conference is scheduled to take place in the next few weeks, during which Byrd will present the Children's Miracle Network with a check. Byrd's current single, "A Good Way To Get On My Bad Side," is currently climbing the country charts.
